Rizal Day is a national holiday in Philippines commemorating the life and works of Jose Rizal, one of the Philippines national heroes. It is celebrated every December 30, the day of Rizal’s execution at Bagumbayan, now known as Rizal Park, in 1896.
Rizal Day, according to wikipedia, was first instituted with a decree from President Emilio Aguinaldo issued December 20, 1898 and celebrated December 30, 1898 as a national day of mourning for Rizal in Malolos Bulacan and all victims of the Spanish government during their rule in the Philippines. Daet, Camarines Norte was the first town to follow the decree, building a monument designed by Lt. Col. Antonio Sanz.
The Municipality of Bacarra is joining the nation in celebrating the 118th Death Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal in honor for his bravery and love for freedom against the oppressors. Two years after his death, the Philippines attained her much awaited freedom from Spain.

Noralyn Fernandez Sacoco, a Bacarreña from Bgy. 19, Nambaran, this municipality got the highest rank with a score of 89.40 in the recently concluded LET Board Examination (Elementary Level) held last August 17, 2014 in Hong Kong and 24 testing centers in the Philippines. She is a graduate of Data Center College of the Philippines in Laoag City and a proud product of Bacarra Nat’l. Comprehensive High School.

In line with fellow Bacarreños needs of immediate medical services, a Medical Mission was conducted last October 4-5, 2014 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Riverdeep Academy Campus at Bgy. #28, Cabusligan, this municipality.
This is being sponsored by Mrs. Maria Dolores Andaya and the Riverdeep Academy in partnership with Health Partners International Canada represented by Mr. Arturo de Vera. The mayor requests the medical doctors from Bacarra to extend their hands to make the medical mission a success.
